Every Child Matters – A podcast by Because One Matters
Every Child Matters is a podcast that shows you a new side of Because One Matters. During these podcasts, we will talk to individuals with experience in foster care, from previous foster children to foster parents to foster organizations and lawmakers (or policymakers). We know that individuals who have directly or indirectly experienced foster care have a story to share, and it’s our privilege to share it with you.
Episode 1 - In this episode, we talk with Alec McMiller, a former foster child and now a husband, dad, and successful businessperson.
Episode 2 - In this episode, we talk with Laura Maxwell, founder, and Executive Director of Called to Care, an organization whose mission is to equip the body of Christ to support children, families, and workers by ministering through adoption, foster care, and missions.
Episode 3 – In this episode, we spoke with the Garnett's. This was a tear-jerker. In this episode, Tyron shares his experience as a former foster child, and now a foster dad, and Jakayla share her experience as a foster mom. Click on the image to listen to the Garnett's share their why!
Episode 4 – In this episode, we spoke with Ebony Harris, Founder and Chief Empowerment Officer of Youth Empowerment Success Services, Inc. (YESS), and Micah, a former foster child and YESS participant. YESS is our Home for the Holiday partner. Their mission is to end youth homelessness for youth aged 18-24 who are aging out of Georgia's foster care system.
Episode 5 – In this episode, we talk with Kati and Collette Tait, who are foster parents that have fostered for more than five years. Kati is also the Program Director for Because One Matters' Wrapped in Love closet.
Episode 6 – Meet Tami. Tami is the CEO of Safe Place and Positive Impact International. Safe Place helps youth in any unsafe situation or crisis, providing them immediate shelter, aiming to reunite families with stronger family dynamics by offering Youth Mentoring, Family Counseling and initiating them in the Positive Impact programs.
