…carrying their few belongings in trash bags, wearing clothes that don’t fit, and facing special days with no one to celebrate.

These kids don’t need pity. They need people who care enough to restore their dignity, and remind them they matter.

When we don’t act

Without help, children affected by foster care face:

  • School years starting with embarrassment, not excitement.
  • Ongoing feelings of isolation, instability, and low self-worth.
  • Increased risks of homelessness, incarceration, and exploitation after aging out.

When we ignore their needs, the cycle continues. When we show up, everything begins to change.

At Because One Matters, our mission is to serve with compassion, love with intention, and equip with purpose, so every child impacted by foster care can thrive.

We believe these young people are more than their circumstances. They are future doctors, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. They deserve dignity, support, and the opportunity to thrive.

Through programs that celebrate milestones, provide essentials, and open doors to education and mentorship, We walk alongside children and youth impacted by foster care meeting tangible needs, celebrating milestones, and preparing them for life beyond the system.

Events that make children and youth impacted by foster care feel seen and celebrated, Back-to-School, Christmas, birthdays, and holiday meals.

EQUIP: Life Skills & Leadership Development

Interactive programs that help youth impacted by foster care build life skills, leadership, and real-world readiness.
